  Carp of the fast growing Royale strain have been stocked including fully scaled, Linears and Commons. When the fishery is not booked the fish are fed and as a result some amazing growth rates are occuring. One particular fish named Lewis was caught in August 2004 at 27lb it was next caught in March 2005 at 39lb 8oz - Not Bad - 12lb 8oz gain in 8 months!!

The average size of the carp is approx 25lb + but this does depend on the time of year, April and May see their weights a lot higher before spawning. At Willow Lodge you are not going to catch loads of massive fish, that is not what we are about, our aim is to try and cater for everyone ( not easy !! ) but you will have a fantastic relaxed time catching lots of quality hard fighting fish, this is what holiday fishing should be all about !!!!!!!

  If you have never caught a catfish and they are on your hit list willow lodge is the perfect place to get off the mark. there are plenty of cats to go after up to 50lb these fish are easily caught on standard carp gear and baits or on live roach fished under a pike float. How about 49lb, 47lb and 43lb catfish in the first afternoon of your holiday, thats what happened to Roy Gibson this September on his 4th holiday with us at willow lodge. The picture at the bottom of this page shows 10 year old Lewis with a 32lb 8 oz catfish caught on a live roach the only help he had was to net the fish !!!!

    If you fancy a spot of float fishing there plenty of smaller fish to go for, float fished sweetcorn is very good for small carp, roach and even baby catfish !! perfect as somethig to pass the time between runs or good fun for the wife and kids.

      Pike, zander and bass have been stocked as well, not many people fish for these but they are there to be caught..
